  • 2000 to March 2012: Partner, Slothower & Petersen, P.C., attorneys, Bend, Oregon.      Litigation, real estate development and disputes, construction, and sales      of businesses.
  • 1998-1999:  Director of Contracts, Information Systems & Networks Corporation (ISN); Bethesda, Maryland.  Negotiate, sign, and manage contracts for information technology company.
  • May 1990 to 1998:  Trial Attorney; Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington, DC.  Litigate major construction, delay, and procurement disputes.  Advise construction project managers and contracting officers.  Review and approve construction changes over $100,000.  Teach project management and construction claims courses to project engineers and      contracting personnel.
  • 1989-1990:  Contract Associate, Metzger, Gordon & Scully, Washington, DC.  Analyze transactions of client firm with companies in China.  Draft contracts and loan documents, including financing instruments for bank acquisition.  Perform legal research in banking and securities. Continue, thereafter, as independent consultant performing banking      market analysis for regulatory approval of bank mergers.
  • 1986-1988:  Associate, Formosa Transnational, Taipei, Taiwan, attorneys.  Translate from Chinese Securities Law, Banking Law, contracts, and offering prospectuses.  Draft and review technology and distribution licensing agreements, agreements for acquisition of Taiwan-based manufacturing companies and agreements for sale of hydroelectric generation equipment; Write and edit firm newsletter and weekly column in The Economic News.
  • January 1986 – May 1986:  Law Clerk, Law firm of Roger Tilbury.   Draft brief in successful class action against Teamster's pension fund; research class action against trust department of major financial institution.  Prepare summary of  best-selling novel for use in claim against movie production company.
  • January 1985 – January 1986:  Clerk; U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Legal Counsel.  Research timber sale and construction cases.  Draft successful brief in case before      Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit.
  • Summer 1984:  Intern, Wu, Kwan, Lee, and Lo, Hong Kong, attorneys. Research real property issues in Hong Kong.
  • 1976-1980:  Construction Manager, Petersen Enterprises.   Arrange and supervise all aspects of construction of Airport Inn, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Box Elder County Social Services Building, Brigham City, Utah; Cotton Tree Inn Restaurant, Pocatello, Idaho.  Reconstruct large apartment complexes in Rexburg, Idaho, following Teton Dam disaster.
